The Accessibility Policy and U.S. Federal Regulations Curriculum covers key issues relating to accessibility policy development and deployment within an organization. The curriculum includes:

  • Course content relevant to organizations seeking to conform with the Section 508 and forthcoming Section 508 Refresh standards.
  • An overview of the differences between the current and past versions of WCAG.
  • An introduction to the 21 Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act, and how its policies and record keeping requirements lead organizations to accessible design.
  • Information about the Americans with Disabilities Act, for historical context and how the ADA is interpreted and applied.

It is important to bear in mind that this course material is not a substitute for legal counsel. Also, unless otherwise stated, materials in the course are U.S.-centric. That said, the design principles here will translate to most any content. It is simply worth noting that global development means being aware of regulation in other countries.

In these courses, videos and slide presentations will provide the basic history, vocabulary, context, and applicability for this material. Further resources for background, reference material and/or specific scenarios are included.
